It's time to put on your Lederhosen! The 2016 Savannah Oktoberfest is coming to Rousakis Riverfront Plaza on the weekend of October 7, 8 and 9. Get ready for an exciting three-day event filled with wiener dog racing, bratwurst tasting, oompah dancing, and of course, lots of beer.
The 33rd annual Savannah Oktoberfest is one of the city's most cherished traditions. And it's much more than just food and beer! Wiener Dog Racing is one of the highlights of the event. Participants bring their little furry friends from all over the Savannah area to compete for top prizes. Watch the dachshunds run their tiny legs off as you cheer them on. Your kids will really love watching these wiener dogs in action.
Hit the dance floor to show off your best Oompah moves as local polka bands play live. After a spin on the dance floor, check out the food booths to taste a wide variety of authentic German cuisine. The Bratwurst Tasting is your chance to try a number of different types of Germany's most famous sausage. To wash down your pretzels and sauerkraut, you can hit the beer tents to sip your favorite brews from Germany. And if you come on Friday, you can catch a spectacular fireworks performance over the Savannah River at 9:30 pm. The event kicks off at 4 pm on Friday, October 7th and runs right through 5 pm on Sunday, October 9th.
