Did you know the South's largest water fight is just a few weeks away? Don't miss the 30th Annual Tybee Beach Bum Parade on Friday, May 19th! This fun-filled water extravaganza is the perfect way to kick off the summer season on beautiful Tybee Island. And it's easy to get there because the beach is just a quick trip from our Savannah hotel.
Spring is a lovely time of year to visit Savannah just when the beaches are beginning to open. Plan a weekend getaway around the Tybee Beach Bum Parade to join in the fun. The concept for this event is simple: It's one big water fight! As the floats parade down Butler Avenue, spectators face off with squirt guns, hoses, and buckets of water. It's wet and wild fun that has been going strong since 1987. You will get wet if you want to participate, so make sure to dress appropriately.
The fun starts at 6:30 pm and runs until 7:30 pm. Make sure to bring a towel to dry off, so you can make dinner plans on Tybee Island after the parade is over. Or just drive back to your hotel room at our Historic District hotel in about 25 minutes to dry off in your room and get ready for a fun night along River Street.
Before you head out to the parade, just make sure you follow a few simple rules to have fun:
-Don't use ice or cold water
-No water balloons are allowed
-Only squirt parade participants
And most importantly, have fun!
