The Southbound Brewing Company, located at 107 E. Lathrop Avenue in Savannah is the first production microbrewery located in Savannah. In addition to bringing the American brewing revolution to Savannah, they keep things interesting. Or, should we say, entertaining?
Guided tours of the brewing facility are given every Wednesday - Friday starting at 5:30 PM and on Saturdays at 2 PM. They also liven up the weekends with special events on tap.
On Saturday, February 6th, the Southbound Brewing Company welcomes North Carolina's Steep Canyon Rangers to the stage for your entertainment. The Steep Canyon Rangers walk the line between playing festival favorites to a sophisticated string orchestra that is all bluegrass at the core. It is their good-natured fun, plus a mix of seriously good chops that makes you want to dance the night away or sit and enjoy their symphonic quality sound.
Though the group of six amazing musicians has been performing together for over fifteen years, with nine studio albums and a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013, they claim that they are just getting started. Ranger guitarist and singer Woody Platt says, "It's almost daunting to think about how much more there is that we want to accomplish as the Steep Canyon Rangers."
The Southbound Brewing Company is located just a few blocks from the Best Western Plus Savannah Historic District Hotel. Visit the historic sites near the hotel by day. Take a tour of the Southbound Brewing Company, sample a few of their house-made brews, and then sit back, let your hair down and enjoy an entertaining evening with the Steep Canyon Rangers.
