Scenic Savannah Recreation for a Good Cause
8th Annual Kayak for a Kure
45 Diamond Causeway
No cars, honking horns, or traffic lights – there’s nothing quite like sightseeing from the water, kayaking Coastal Georgia for a good cause. Join Kayak for a Kure, and enjoy a warm, 3-mile morning paddle down the Skidaway River, from Butterbean Beach to the UGA Marine Extension Service Aquarium. The perfect marriage of exercise, nature watching, and a waterfront tour, it’s Savannah summer recreation at its finest!
About the Event
Your entry fee includes a goodie bag, catered lunch from Chipotle, and live music at the ride’s after-party, starting at around 10:30am. All proceeds benefit the American Diabetes Association’s 95-city “Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes” fundraising campaign (which has raised more than $175 million in a little over 20 years!). If you don’t have a boat, be sure to email Chris Carpentino at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve one today. The ride is a peaceful one, full of sights you can’t see any other way, and ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME!
Exotic Birds, Waterfront Mansions, & Riverside Sights
Immersing you in river wildlife, expect to see all sorts of birds flying between the water’s many habitats, from large waterfowl to smaller species in a rainbow of colors. Along the way, you’ll pass the affluent riverfront community known as the Isle of Hope. Home to some of Georgia’s wealthiest families, the properties along the water will take your breath away. You might even recognize them from famous movies like Forrest Gump.
Old Town Trolley Shuttle Service
As the after-party winds down around 1pm, Old Town Trolleys will provide a complimentary shuttle service back to Butterbean Beach, just a short drive from our Downtown hotel.
