Built in 1808, Old Jackson Fort is famous for being the oldest brick fort along the East Coast. It was key to protecting Savannah during the War of 1812 and was an important site during the Civil War. In 2000, it was awarded the National Historic Landmark designation. The fort is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm and admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children (ages 2-12). It's located just a 10-minute ride from our hotel in the Savannah Historic District.
